Mission Statement: “Building Community through Music”

For Damo, music is about creating memorable moments. Moments where an audience ‘feels deeply’ and connects with their surroundings in powerful, tangible ways.

Damo’s goal is to build community by encouraging students to serve their audience selflessly through music, fostering shared experiences that bring people together and leave lasting memories.

‘Damo Bailey Music’ was birthed from a desire to reinforce the cosmopolitan musical culture in Margaret River, Western Australia. Having moved to the town in 2015 and seeing the quality of street music and musical culture, it became something of a dream to be a part of it.

Starting small with volunteering at the local Primary School, it fast became an easy thing to help the groups step out of the school grounds and give the young bands we’d mentored a go on a public stage.

Photo of Damo Bailey with Sarah Butler, and Scott Pearce. Mentors I’ve had the privilege of working with over the past years in Margaret River.

This photo features Joe Forte of ‘Joe Forte Music’ and Sarah Butler. These two are essential network partners in expanding access to musical mentorship for young people. Joe’s expertise with middle school bands ensures a smooth transition for students moving into high school, while Sarah helps to steady nerves and provide support for the vocal students. They are so valued in our community and I deeply appreciate their ongoing commitment.
